As part of the PledgeMusic campaign, Cooking Vinyl are also launching a £30k groundbreaking industry fund, with the aim of giving something back to artists, entrepreneurs and visionaries in the music industry.
Under this new, bi-annual initiative Cooking Vinyl are investing an initial £30,000 to help artists needing assistance with various aspects of their development, entrepreneurs seeking seed capital for groundbreaking new ideas and those who want to use the power of music to make the world a better place.
Unlike other funds that are simply prizes or one-off payments, this is a loan based initiative that will encourage the recipients to pay back into the scheme when they are able to do so with the aim of creating something that can be made available to each new generation of artists, entrepreneurs and visionaries.
Interested parties will submit an initial application for funding via PledgeMusic who will oversee the process. This will be a global campaign open to all and successful finalists will then be invited to make a final pitch at Cooking Vinyl’s London HQ or via Skype if overseas.
Also part of these 30th anniversary celebrations is a new book about the history of Cooking Vinyl planned for the end of the year. Written by acclaimed music journalist and author Hanspeter Kuensler this new book will be available via PledgeMusic and Unbound, the specialist crowdfunding platform for new literary projects.
Full details about the book, a number of exciting events taking place around its publication and how people can get involved in the Unbound campaign will be announced shortly.
The company has also announced a series of intimate live shows in London during December. Taking place at The Lexington in London on December 5th, 6th and 7th respectively these shows will feature past and present Cooking Vinyl artists with lots of surprise guests.
Full details of the line-ups for each night will be announced in the near future.
All profits from the commercial activities surrounding Cooking Vinyl’s 30th Anniversary will be donated to charity. The company recently asked its staff to suggest suitable causes and to vote on a shortlist with three organisations chosen to be equal recipients as follows:

  •  Hope Not Hate

The HOPE not hate campaign was founded in 2004 to provide a positive antidote to the politics of hate. The British National Party (BNP) was winning substantial votes and local councilors in our northern towns and traditional anti-racism and anti-fascism was failing.
