la storia dietro la canzone:
‘The Lost Battalion’ è il nome dato a nove divisioni della 77esima divisione americana durante la battaglia dell’Argonne nel 1918. Anche se questi 550-575 uomini coraggiosi erano completamente circondati dai soldati tedeschi e soggetti al fuoco amico, continuarono a lottare per una intera settimana fino a che non furono salvati. Degli oltre 500 soldati che entrarono nella foresta di Argonne solo 194 ne uscirono illesi. I restanti furono uccisi, dispersi, catturati o feriti.
